Farmers are distressed due to drought this year and Karnataka state government has announced crop relief for farmers (Bele Parihara Karnataka 2023). Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has informed about the release of the first installment.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, he said that urgent action has been taken by the state government as no adequate response was received from the central government to provide compensation to the farmers. He said that in the first installment, we are going to give crop compensation up to Rs 2 thousand to the eligible beneficiary farmers.

He informed that the 1st installment of money has been released from the state government as we cannot wait for the money from the central government.

223 taluks have been declared drought-affected in three phases in the state. A letter has been written to the Center to provide financial assistance of 18171.44 crores due to crop loss of 48.19 lakh hectares. But no response was received, he said.

460 crores to 6.5 lakh farmers from the state government already for sowing failure and interim insurance compensation. He said that our government has released it.

The CM said that the crop compensation amounting to Rs 2,000 will be released in four to five days.
