Today there are Anganwadis all over the state. This can be a good foundation for children to socialize with other children. Anganwadi means workers and helpers should be there. So the government has taken steps to select Anganwadi workers/helpers in the state. The order was issued on 15-06-2012. But that order was revised on 19-04-2014.

Accordingly, in the order dated 27-10-2022, the Director, Women and Child Development Department, the Hon’ble Departmental Minister has instructed to take action to revise the guidelines and eligibility criteria dated 23-09-2017 for selection of Anganwadi workers/helpers for Anganwadi Centers in the State, Anganwadi workers / As some additions and amendments have been made in the orders issued to select the helpers, a proposal has been submitted to the government to adopt them and revise the guidelines to facilitate the online recruitment of Anganwadi workers and helpers.

Selection criteria for selection of Anganwadi workers and helpers:

Eligibility – Women and Gender Minority Women are eligible to apply.

Age Limit – Girls between 19 to 35 years and female gender minorities can apply. And the age limit will be reduced by 10 years for persons with disabilities.

Locality – (1) Should be residing in the respective revenue village if it is a center of rural area. If not, the relevant residence certificate should be obtained from the competent authority.
(2) In case of Urban Area Anganwadi Centre, he/she should have residence in respective revenue ward and residence certificate should be obtained from competent authority. (Electoral wards are not considered)
(3) Must be certified as a resident for which supporting documents such as Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, Voter ID Card.

Education Qualifications of Anganwadi Workers:

Must have minimum PUC pass, S. S.L. Kannada must have been studied as a first or second language in C.
And should have done ECCE Diploma Course, JOC Course, NTT Courses and courses related to Anganwadi activities from D.S.E.R.T.

Education Qualifications of Anganwadi Assistants:

Minimum qualification is S. S. L. Must have passed class C or equivalent.
In open schools run by Karnataka State Public Education Examination Board, S. S. L. C. Passed candidates must have studied Kannada as first or second language and general mathematics and social science and social science.

• Residents of Departmental Reformatory Institutions/State Women’s Hostels should have been in the institution for at least 3 years. And resident certificate obtained from women and child development department officials in this regard.
• Certificate obtained from the Tahsildar regarding the project refugees.
• Aadhaar Card/Voter ID Card/Ration Card/Affidavit from Child Development Scheme Officer.
• Submission of all documents attested by notarized authorities.

The selection process of the applicants is as follows:

At least one month should be allotted for submission of application.
The Committee shall meet within the next 7 working days after the last date fixed for submission of application.

In case all the members of the Selection Committee cannot attend due to unavoidable reasons, at least 2/3rd of the members must be present.

Failure to submit any required document along with the online application will result in rejection of such applications and unclear / incomplete documents will not be considered.
A consolidated list of the received applications will be prepared online based on the total marks obtained including the marks obtained in the qualification and bonus marks and after checking according to eligibility and merit the candidates with the highest marks will be selected and the provisional selection list will be published on the notice board.

Allowing one week (7 days) time to file objections. And on the next working day after the deadline, a meeting of the committee will be called and if the objections are received, they will be consolidated and discussed and the final selection list of workers/assistants will be published on the same notice board.

If any problem is found in the selection process, the appointing authority will discuss it and take appropriate action. The decision of the Selection Committee will be final.

The concerned Deputy Director of the District shall issue recruitment orders to the final shortlisted candidates to act as Anganwadi Worker/Assistant.
It should be mentioned in the appointment order that the post of Anganwadi Worker/Helper is purely an honorary service and not a permanent post. At the time of reporting, the selected candidates should present the original documents, medical certificate (fitness certificate) and check and report by the concerned Child Development Officer.

List of Anganwadi workers/helpers retiring 6 months early and selection process for their post and preparation for filling up the post through recruitment after promotion/transfer. There should be no delay for a maximum period of more than 3 months for any reason other than a court case.

The Child Development Project Officer submits the proposal to the Deputy Director, the Deputy Director simultaneously gets approval from the District Collector and issues the selection order.
